EDUCATION. One by product of the “information age” is the abundance of information for the purchasers of any product. As buyers go through the selling cycle for your product how do you help them along? It’s critical to provide buyers information so that they feel in their gut, that they’re making an informed decision. You must provide this in a non-thrusting way and always give buyers an opportunity to respond to you, whether it’s to get more information or even to buy your product or service. You need to be able to separate “today” buyers from tomorrow buyers as they should be handled differently. And you don’t want to loose track of tomorrow buyers as you’ll need them when they’re ready. The great news is that if you serve as the “information source” you can also point to those decision factors that should be important to your buyers. And you should make sure that you’re already at the front of the pack on these key factors. Things like a website, newsletters or buyer’s guides are inexpensive methods to create and continue the education process for your prospects (future buyers), today buyers and repeat customers. Make sure you understand the selling cycle for your product or service and where in the cycle your prospects fall.
